The impact of Signify’s contribution is poised to be far-reaching, with the FIdV

Signify Illuminates Dreams in the Heart of Assam: Inauguration by International legends of Volleyball Assam, India – Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, is set to illuminate 10 Brahmaputra Volleyball League (BVL) grassroot courts in Assam. Commencement of the next phase of the project was announced with an inauguration ceremony that took place at the Community Volleyball Court BVL Barbari village center in Nalbari. The event witnessed participation of three visiting Olympic Gold Medalists, Gilberto Amauri de Godoy Filho (Giba) from Brazil, Mireya Luis from Cuba, and Vladimir Grbic from Serbia.

With this effort, Signify will achieve lighting up more than 120 grassroots BVL courts. The impact of Signify’s contribution is poised to be far-reaching, with the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the apex global body of Volleyball, recognizing BVL (Community Volleyball League) as one of the world’s largest community volleyball leagues. The initiative will benefit over 7000 children in remote villages of Assam, providing them with a well-lit and conducive environment for pursuing their passion for volleyball. Recognizing the pivotal role of lighting in sports, Signify ensures a professional level of illumination for the BVL courts, meeting the national standards required for sporting events.

The high-quality lighting enhances visibility, contributing to a safer and more enjoyable sports experience. Nikhil Gupta, Head of Marketing and CSR, expressed his excitement about the initiative, stating, “We are proud to be part of a project that is building a platform for the young talent in Assam to shine bright in the future. The collaboration with FIVB and the presence of legendary players will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on the community, encouraging future sportsmanship in the country. The initiative goes beyond just lighting up courts; it is a commitment to encourage and promote grassroot sports, fostering talent at the very foundation of sporting communities.” Abhijit Bhattacharya, the founder of BVL and former captain of Indian Volleyball Team, also expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Situated in northeast India, Assam sees early sunsets, due to which players could not practice in extended hours. I am grateful to Signify for illuminating the BVL courts.

Now children can practice in evening and night hours and even night tournaments can also be organised. Signify Installed lighting solutions are as per national volleyball standards, boosting spectatorship and motivating other children for future scope of sports opportunities in India. This initiative fosters a sense of community among hundreds of villages through sports.”
