Established in 1895 in Karachi as a humble eatery slightly larger than a street stall, B Bhagat Tarachand (fondly known as BBT) has grown into a trusted and beloved culinary institution across Mumbai.

What began as a small operation with big values has today evolved into a network of outlets that serves thousands daily, yet the brand continues to hold fast to the very principles it was built upon: kindness, quality, and consistency.
The name itself carries a legacy. Our founder, Tarachand Chawla, was known as much for his generosity as for his food. In his early days, he would feed customers who couldn’t afford to pay, earning the affectionate title “Bhagat” (meaning “kind”).

It was only natural that the restaurant be named in honor of his spirit—Bhagat Tarachand.
“We are so committed to preserving the freshness of our food and meeting our customer’s expectations,” says Prakash Chawla, “that we use the same raw materials at home, as we do in the restaurant.”

Over the decades, this ethos has been preserved by the family and passed down through generations.
Today, under the stewardship of Vishal and Prakash Chawla, BBT continues to deliver on that century-old promise: hearty, home-style vegetarian meals made with integrity.

This isn’t just a slogan, it’s a process. At our dedicated production facility in Vashi, we focus on preparing key ingredients in-house, such as our rich, creamy paneer and the signature spice blends that define our flavors.
Each batch of masalas is ground and blended daily to maintain optimal aroma and authenticity, and our paneer is made fresh to ensure a soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture that elevates every dish.

Every ingredient used is carefully planned and sourced to maintain the highest standards of quality, freshness, and taste.
Meals are prepared fresh not once but twice a day, exceeding industry norms.

One of our most iconic locations, the Zaveri Bazaar outlet, has been serving loyal patrons since the 1970s.
A favorite among traders, professionals, and food lovers alike, it remains a buzzing landmark of traditional Sindhi and Punjabi vegetarian cuisine.
Signature dishes like dal fry, buttery phulkas, papad churi, and our beloved ‘kutchi beer’ (a playful twist on chaas served in beer bottles) have become household names.

From that tiny stall in Karachi to a name recognized across the city, BBT now has multiple outlets across Mumbai, each upholding the same high standards and warm hospitality.
Our newest landmark is the Lower Parel branch, which opened to tremendous success and has been warmly embraced by the community.

Building on this momentum, we are excited to announce that we will be opening a new outlet in Andheri West, slated for June 2025, bringing our signature flavors and commitment to quality to yet another vibrant part of the city.
As one of the original descendants of the Bhagat Tarachand legacy, B Bhagat Tarachand proudly carries the torch forward.
Whether you’re enjoying a thali at our iconic Zaveri Bazaar outlet, dining at the new Lower Parel branch, or soon visiting us in Andheri West, you’re not just eating a meal, you’re tasting over a century of dedication, tradition, and care.
