Kommune and Netflix India launch the 4th edition of Voices of Tomorrow

Kommune and Netflix India proudly launch the fourth edition of their Voices of Tomorrow (VOT) initiative, part of the Voice Equity Project. As India’s only professional initiative of its kind, VOT seeks to democratise the dubbing industry by discovering, nurturing, and championing raw voice talent from underrepresented communities. Building on the overwhelming success of its past editions that spotlighted queer voices, children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and adults over 45, this year’s focus returns exclusively to senior adults (45+).
The 5-month initiative, set to run from August 2025 to December 2025, will be in collaboration with several Mumbai-based artist organisations and talent agencies. Auditioning a pool of around 250 individuals from Mumbai, the program will narrow down to 25 of untapped voices for an intensive 8-week dubbing training. After this, the final cohort will also gain hands-on experience in professional dubbing environments and refine their essential soft skills via a dedicated industry training week. Mentored by industry stalwarts like Shernaz Patel, Alekh Sangal, and Simran Singh, and supported by multiple dubbing studios, this unique program will prepare participants for real-world opportunities to launch their careers in voice acting.
With the world rushing towards synthetic sound and generative audio, the need for authentic, expressive human voices has never been more critical. VOT seeks to give a stage to the artists in the wings by inviting them to follow their passion, in turn, making India’s voice talent landscape more diverse, representative, and impactful through authentic storytelling. Through this initiative, Kommune and Netflix India continue to challenge norms, amplify new narratives, and drive inclusive change within the entertainment industry.
Speaking on the fourth edition of the initiative, Roshan Abbas, Founder, Kommune India, said, “With Voices of Tomorrow, we’ve always believed in creating space for real stories and real voices. We are thrilled to be supported by Netflix yet again. This edition, dedicated to senior voices, brings with it authentic storytelling layered with depth that deserves to be heard. We hope that this kind of collective effort helps turn our belief into a movement that gives fresh voices not just a platform, but a real shot at belonging in the industry.”
Ashwini Kulkarni, Senior Manager, Dubbing, Netflix India, added, “As Netflix Dubbing, we aim to make stories speak to everyone, everywhere. Partnering with Kommune to support Voices of Tomorrow has truly helped us highlight and amplify underrepresented voices challenging the traditional
casting approach. Since 2022, we have added over 60 new voices to the talent pool. As our content continues to travel beyond borders, we will continue to enrich the global narrative with authentic voices.”
