A retired teacher gives a lesson of life by donating multiple organs

On the morning of 29th June 2025, a retired 69-year-old teacher fell unconscious in the washroom while getting ready for a yoga session. The family immediately rushed her to Manipal Hospital, where a CT scan revealed a massive intracerebral bleed. She was resuscitated and placed on a ventilator. Despite expert management in the intensive care unit, her condition did not stabilize, and she was eventually declared brain dead on the late evening of 2nd July 2025.
Despite the moment of intense grief, her son along with the family, took the courageous decision to donate her organs. Following the son’s consent, the liver, both the kidneys and corneas were donated, giving the gift of life to multiple recipients. The patient’s liver was transplanted in a 33-year-old female at HCMCT Manipal Hospital, Dwarka. One kidney was transplanted in a 51-year-old male in the same hospital, while the other kidney was allotted to another hospital in Delhi, where it was transplanted into a 34-year-old male patient. Both her corneas were sent to Nirmaya Eye Bank to restore sight and change lives.
Dr Anurag Saxena, Cluster Head Delhi NCR, Department of Neurosurgery, HCMCT Manipal Hospital Dwarka, said, “The family’s courage and strength during such a difficult time are truly inspiring.
The patient came with a massive brain haemorrhage due to ruptured brain aneurysm and knowing the inevitable outcome, her family decided to continue with non-surgical management. Despite our best efforts, the patient couldn’t regain her life and was declared brain dead on 2nd July 2025. In her final moments, this teacher taught us the ultimate lesson of compassion and generosity.”
Dr. Shrikanth Srinivasan, Chairman, Manipal Institute of Critical Care Medicine, HCMCT Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, said, “Organ donation is a vital part of end-of-life care, offering new hope to people and providing an opportunity to save multiple lives. Each act of organ donation is a reminder that even in our final moments, we can give others the gift of tomorrow. In a moment of deep personal loss, the family showed immense courage by choosing to donate her organs which helped save the life of five others.”
India continues to face a wide gap between the number of patients awaiting transplants and the organs available. As per national data, approximately 1.8 lakh people suffer from kidney failure each year, yet only 13,426 kidney transplants were performed in 2023. Similarly, out of the 25,000–30,000 liver transplants needed annually, only 4,491 were conducted last year. In the case of corneas, about 25,000 transplants are performed annually against a requirement of 1 lakh.
The urgent need for organ donation highlights India’s growing transplant gap and the importance of this noble gesture. With thousands of people waiting for life-saving organs, increasing public awareness and participation is important. Every donor has the power to change lives, making organ donation a vital step toward a more hopeful, healthier future for many.

Kababi Nation is more than just a restaurant; it’s a testament to the power of dreams

In the midst of the chaos that was 2020, amidst the uncertainty and the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, there emerged a glimmer of hope, a dream taking shape in my heart determined to make a difference.

It all began in the year 2020, when faced with the turmoil of the times, I made a decision that would change my life forever—I decided to start my own restaurant, Kababi Nation.
Days turned into nights as I worked tirelessly to recover debts, each moment pushing me closer to the realization that there was more to life than just surviving—it was about thriving, about chasing dreams that seemed beyond reach.

But life had other plans, and soon I found myself taking on yet another role, that of a recovery agent.
The hustle and bustle of life’s uncertainties, I found myself wearing many hats before Kababi Nation came into existence. In the early days before 2020, I began my journey with a humble food truck.
Serving up burgers and shawarmas, I navigated the bustling streets, fueled by a burning ambition to create something of my own.

From its inception, Kababi Nation was more than just a restaurant; it was a manifestation of my passion for good food and heartfelt hospitality.
Specializing in a fusion of Indian, Chinese, and Tandoor cuisines, each dish crafted with love and care, Kababi Nation aimed to tantalize the taste buds and leave a lasting impression on every customer who walked through its doors.

In September of 2020, Kababi Nation was born, emerging from the depths of my imagination into the bustling reality of the world.
And so, with the courage born of necessity and the fire of ambition burning within me, I took a leap of faith and embarked on a new journey—the journey of Kababi Nation.

It was a leap into the unknown, a bold step into the realm of entrepreneurship, but one that I knew in my heart was the right path for me.
Started small, with just one modest shop consisting of four tables.
Despite the challenges and obstacles that lay ahead, fueled by determination and unwavering dedication, Kababi Nation began to flourish.

As word of mouth spread and our reputation grew, we expanded, adding a second shop to accommodate the growing number of Customers eager to experience the magic of Kababi Nation.
The journey was far from easy; there were late nights and early mornings, moments of doubt and uncertainty, but through it all, the dream remained steadfast.

So the next time you find yourself craving an unforgettable culinary experience, look no further than Kababi NATION, where the flavors are as bold as the dreams that brought them to life.
At Kababi Nation, we didn’t just serve food; we created an experience, a warm and welcoming atmosphere where every guest felt like family.
Our staff, handpicked and trained with care, embodied the spirit of Kababi Nation, going above and beyond to ensure that every customer left with a smile on their face and a desire to return.
Today, as I look back on the journey that brought me here, I am filled with gratitude for every twist and turn, every challenge overcome, and every moment of joy shared.

Kababi Nation is more than just a restaurant; it is a testament to the power of dreams .
And as we continue to grow and evolve, one thing remains unchanged—the commitment to excellence and the unwavering belief that with passion and perseverance, anything is possible.
