Medanta unveils heartwarming Diwali film ‘Sehat Ka Shagun

As families across the country come together to celebrate Diwali, Medanta – The Medicity, one of India’s leading super-speciality hospitals ranked as the Best Private Hospital in India by Newsweek, launched a heartwarming film ‘Sehat Ka Shagun’ encouraging people to gift good health to their near and dear ones through personalised health check packages. The visually striking film portrays how Diwali, a festival of light, love, and togetherness, becomes even more meaningful when families celebrate with the priceless gift of good health, ensuring that illnesses do not overshadow these cherished moments of joy and connection.

Through this film, Medanta has adopted a creative approach to connect with people, seeking to inspire and remind them of the true wealth—good health. At the heart of the film is an offering that empowers the viewer to take charge of their health and that of their loves ones with a thoughtful gift for the festive season.

Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta said, “Medanta’s commitment to its mission ‘delivering world-class healthcare with compassion’ is reflected in this film. It captures the essence of Medanta—the most valuable gift is that of life, and the best celebration is that of good health.

‘Sehat Ka Shagun’ is a token of love, well-being, and togetherness.”

Every year, the festival season brings an uptick in the spirit of giving as the nation of 1.7 billion starts its celebrations culminating with Diwali. Even during this time of levity, healthcare providers stand dedicated to the spirit of gifting good health, extending themselves to not just fighting diseases but helping the larger population prevent them. This year, Medanta has drawn from this spirit to curate ‘Sehat ka Shagun’—a gift of good health that doubles up as a real, tangible token of good tidings that people can give to their loved ones.

The film is set against the backdrop of a joint family living apart, with one of the senior members unexpectedly inviting everyone to celebrate Diwali together. This member, who had recovered from a serious illness the previous year during Diwali, emphasises the importance of good health and the deep sense of belonging within a family which his illness made him realise. As his wife enters the room with the symbolic ‘Sehat Ka Shagun’, the room brightens, and he lovingly presents the ‘Shagun’ to each family member—a personalised health check-up package, underscoring the family’s care, love, and commitment to each other’s well-being. The film resonates emotionally with families who wish to see their loved ones in the best of health as they gather for festivities year after year.

Young Non-Smoker Treated for Advanced Adenocarcinoma at Sharda Care

World Lung Cancer Day serves as a reminder of the global burden of lung cancer and the critical importance of early detection and public awareness. Sharda Care – Healthcity, a leading healthcare provider in Greater Noida, marked the occasion with a remarkable example of cross-border cancer care. The hospital successfully treated a 38-year-old non-smoking woman from Burkina Faso, West Africa, who had been diagnosed with aggressive, advanced-stage lung adenocarcinoma. Despite experiencing increasing discomfort, the patient had not received a diagnosis or treatment in her home country. After arriving in India, she underwent a carefully coordinated and personalized treatment plan at Sharda Care – Healthcity, which led to complete symptom relief and a dramatic tumor reduction—from approximately 5 cm to just 1.5 cm. The treatment was led by Dr. Anil Thakwani, Senior Consultant – Oncology, Sharda Care – Healthcity.

The patient arrived at Sharda Care – Healthcity with severe breathlessness and weakness, unable to walk without support, with her symptoms had escalated rapidly. Despite being young and a non-smoker, her symptoms were concerning enough to prompt a full clinical workup. A CT scan at Sharda Care Healthcity revealed a suspicious mass near the mediastinum (central chest cavity), and further investigation through a whole-body PET scan showed high metabolic activity (FDG uptake) localized in the upper left lung. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis—she was suffering from adenocarcinoma, a type of lung cancer that is increasingly being seen in younger, non-smoking individuals, especially women. Given the aggressive local progression, a multidisciplinary tumor board developed a treatment plan combining weekly chemotherapy using Gemcitabine and Carboplatin, and concurrent radiotherapy to maximize tumor control.

Dr. Anil Thakwani, Director – Clinical Oncology, Sharda Care Healthcity, Greater Noida, said,“Lung cancer was once considered a disease of the elderly, primarily linked to smoking, but it is now increasingly being seen in younger individuals, especially those over 30s. Adenocarcinoma in young non-smokers is on the rise—and often goes undetected until it reaches an advanced stage. This made her case extremely challenging. What made this case particularly complex was the patient’s age, her non-smoking history, and the fact that the tumor had progressed locally but aggressively without prior detection. Additionally, the tumor’s proximity to the mediastinum—a highly sensitive area near the heart and major vessels—added significant complexity to both diagnosis and treatment planning. Many patients like her may ignore vague symptoms or get misdiagnosed in the early stages.”

“We chose Gemcitabine and Carboplatin—a conventional but highly effective combination—for its proven track record in treating adenocarcinoma. Radiation therapy was administered concurrently to boost local control. Despite the advanced nature of the tumor, the patient tolerated the regimen exceptionally well, and her symptoms resolved entirely by the end of treatment. Just three months after initiating therapy, follow-up imaging showed minimal residual disease—underscoring the effectiveness of timely, precision-guided treatment. This case reinforces the importance of early, accurate diagnosis, especially in patients who don’t fit the traditional risk profile, and highlights the role of coordinated, multidisciplinary, and personalized care in achieving the best outcomes. It also defies the idea of a one-size-fits-all approach to cancer treatment—demonstrating that personalized regimens, even when conventional, can deliver powerful results. The next phase will involve immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy based on molecular marker testing.,” he added.

Mr. Rishabh Gupta, Vice President, Sharda Care – Healthcity said, “At Sharda, we bring together global care and holistic healing. This case highlights the growing need for precision-driven, integrated oncology care—especially when managing high-risk cases across borders. That we could provide such care to a young woman from another continent, and help her reclaim her health and future, is a proud moment for us. We combine world-cl-ass diagnostics, experienced clinicians, and holistic wellness to deliver meaningful outcomes—especially for the most vulnerable patients.”

“I was struggling to breathe… but now I feel like I’ve been given a second life,” says Mrs. Hama Sise (patient). “Overwhelmed with emotion, the patient expressed deep gratitude to the team. “Back home, my breathlessness was getting worse, but I never thought it could be cancer—especially because I don’t smoke. When I reached India, I was scared. But the team at Sharda treated me with kindness, explained every step, and gave me the strength to fight. Now I feel like I’ve been given a second life.”

Equipped with cutting-edge diagnostics, advanced radiotherapy systems, and a dedicated multidisciplinary tumor board, Sharda Care – Healthcity offers world-cl-ass, personalized oncology care. With a growing international footprint, the facility continues to bridge global care gaps through high-end, patient-centric cancer solutions.

ISS Unveils Insights from Global Survey Highlighting Indian Workforce’s Sense of Belonging and Areas for Improvement – INDIAN NEWS & TIMES

ISS, a leading workplace experience and facility management company, has released key findings from its global survey, shedding light on the state of the Indian workforce in terms of their sense of belonging and engagement. The survey, conducted by ISS, reveals intriguing data that positions India at the forefront of employee satisfaction in various aspects, but also highlights areas that require improvement.

According to the survey, an astonishing 86% of Indian employees reported feeling a strong sense of belonging in their current workplace. This figure far surpasses the global average and sets India apart as a country where employees feel deeply connected to their organizations. Comparatively, the survey indicates that only 60% of employees in Switzerland reported a similar sense of belonging

The report also highlighted that 91% of the Indian employees most value the opportunities to develop skills and progress in their career while 41% of Indians prioritize the friendships they have made in the workplace as a very important reason for choosing to work there.

Among the factors contributing to this strong sense of belonging, the survey highlights the significance of shared values within the organization. A remarkable 30% of Indian respondents cited alignment with the values of their workplace as a crucial factor in fostering a sense of belonging. In contrast, countries such as Denmark and Germany registered lower percentages of 16% and 17%, respectively, emphasizing the importance of shared values in cultivating a positive work culture.

However, the survey also reveals significant challenges faced by Indian employees in the workplace. Only 21% of Indian employees reported feeling wanted in their workplaces, showcasing a disparity compared to countries like Denmark, where 39% of employees express a sense of being wanted. This underscores the need for Indian organizations to

prioritize employee engagement initiatives and create inclusive work environments that genuinely value and appreciate their workforce.

Furthermore, the survey highlights that Indian workers have frequently experienced negative emotions towards their workplaces, leading to adverse consequences. A significant 31% reported worse mental health, including anxiety or depression, while 28% attempted to change jobs due to negative emotions at the workplace. These findings indicate the urgent need for employers to focus on initiatives that improve employee well-being and foster a supportive work environment.

Aksh Rohatgi, CEO and Country Manager of ISS India, shared his thoughts on the survey’s results, stating, “These survey findings provide valuable insights into the state of the Indian workforce. While it is encouraging to see a strong sense of belonging among employees, it is crucial for employers to prioritize initiatives that improve employee engagement and well-being. By prioritizing inclusivity, recognizing the value of each employee, and fostering a safe and supportive work environment, we can unlock the untapped potential that comes from a truly engaged workforce.”

Santosh Choubey’s Latest Essay Collection ‘Kahani Ka Raasta’ Launched

The launch ceremony for the latest essay collection, Kahani Ka Raasta, by senior poet-storyteller, World Stage Director, and Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University, Shri Santosh Choubey, was held at the Vanmali Auditorium at Scope Global Skills University in Bhopal. The event was graced by numerous distinguished guests.

During the launch, Shri Santosh Choubey, while recalling ‘Vanmali Ji’, reflected on the nature of storytelling. He emphasized that the journey of a story is never a straightforward one. “It is a dynamic path,” he remarked, “weaving through memories, minds, and moments—sometimes winding like mountain trails, other times racing across open plains.” Notably, this book includes significant critical essays such as ‘Kahani Ka Raasta’, ‘Aaj ki Kahani, ‘Kahani Kaha Hai?’, ‘Kahani me prem’, ‘Kahani me Drishya Vidhan’, Shabdo ke paar arth ki talash, ‘Katha Bhopal’, ‘Kahani me nayepan ki talaash’, ‘Hindi kahani ke do sau baras, and ‘Vigyan Kahaniyo ke adbudh sansaar’.

Shri Santosh Choubey, speaking about new writers, said that new writers need to be listened to with affinity. Often, critics criticize a new writer’s work in such a way that the new writer feels trampled. This shrinks the creative world of Hindi. We should always welcome new writers. The responsibility of refining new writers should lie with senior writers and critics.

Presiding over the launch ceremony organized by AISECT Publications, Scope Global Skills University, and Vanmali Srijan Peeth, Prof. Vinod Tiwari, a renowned critic, editor, and supporter from New Delhi, said that in the literary world, criticism is like an institution. Editing is like an institution. Criticism is never written keeping the reader at the center. It orients the reader. It acts as a catalyst for the reader to read the creation. ‘Kahani Ka Raasta’ is an important book in this direction.

JNU’s senior critic Prof. Devendra Chaubey said that an important task of a critic is to document the creative work of their time from a critical perspective. In that sense, ‘Kahani Ka Raasta’ is an exceptional book of critical documentation. It is an important example of creative prose.

Noted storyteller and Delhi University Associate Professor Dr. Ashutosh said that Santosh Choubey’s book is written in a conversational language style. He has written it not like an omniscient teacher, but like a reader. He does not carry the burden of concept but takes the reader along with him.

Senior storyteller and Chairman of Vanmali Srijan Peeth, Bhopal, Shri Mukesh Verma said that in the book ‘Kahani Ka Raasta’, while the story is at the center, it talks about all other genres of literature, topics, and related issues. This book is a bouquet of creative thoughts.

Senior poet and Chairman of Vanmali Srijan Peeth, Delhi, Shri Leeladhar Mandloi said that this is a vibrant book about stories. The artistic elements of the arts of our time have been intensely incorporated in this book. The reader has been located and given importance. This book is free from academic rigidity. It highlights and raises the important questions of its time. It is a speaking book. It is about the storytelling of a story.

The event was orchestrated by young storyteller Shri Kunal Singh, with welcome remarks by Ms. Jyoti Raghuvanshi, the National Coordinator of Vanmali Srijan Peeth. The launch drew significant participation from Bhopal’s literary community, including writers, literature enthusiasts, and young creatives.

Published by AISECT Publications in collaboration with Scope Global Skills University and Vanmali Srijan Peeth, ‘Kahani Ka Raasta’ promises to be a significant contribution to contemporary Hindi literary discourse.
