Reinforcing its leadership in advanced kidney care and transplantation, Medanta has appointed globally renowned urologist and transplant surgeon Dr. Sanjay Gogoi as Chairman of Urology, Kidney Transplant, and Uro-Oncology at the Renal Care Institute in its flagship hospital Medanta, Gurugram. With almost three decades of experience, Dr. Gogoi is recognized globally for delivering outcomes on a par with international benchmarks in complex urological procedures and kidney transplants. His appointment bolsters Medanta’s capabilities to offer world-cl-ass, holistic, compassionate care in a patient-first way.

Trained in advanced robotic surgery at the da Vinci Training Center in California, Dr. Gogoi is acclaimed the world over for management of challenging urological complications. He is sought-after for robotic kidney transplants in high-BMI patients and transplants requiring reconstructive techniques such as neobladders and augmentation cystoplasty. Dr Gogoi is also well-known for his dedication to humanitarian work with war victims. He has successfully rehabilitated hundreds of war victims with genito-urinary trauma from Sri Lanka and the Middle East. His expertise is recognised internationally, with nearly 30% of his cases coming from different parts of the world, reflecting the trust placed in him by patients from across the globe.

Endometriosis is a painful gynaecological condition affecting over 190  ( 19 crores) million girls and women globally. India alone represents 25 percent of the burden with an estimated 43 million ( 4.5 crores) women enduring the pain  suffering from Endometriosis which is a leading cause of infertility as well says Dr Vimee Bindra, Robotic and Laparosocpic Surgeon, Fertility Enhancing Surgery Specialist; Endometriosis Excision Surgery Specialist;  founder of Endometriosis Foundation of India

Approximately one-third of the women suffering from endometriosis can face some difficulty in conceiving. However, there are many others too with mild endometriosis who do not face any issues with fertility. These issues are more likely to develop as a woman moves towards a severe endometriosis case.

For a woman to become pregnant, her ovary must release an egg and that must travel through the fallopian tube. The egg is then fertilised with a sperm and attached itself to the wall of the uterus to begin the development of the foetus. In Endometriosis, the fallopian tubes may be blocked or damaged which prevent the sperm and the egg to come together. In some cases, endometriosis can damage the egg in the ovaries that may lead to lowered ovarian reserve and even low egg quality and quantity.

How do I know if I have endometriosis?

Endometriosis may present as painful periods, pelvic, abdominal pain, irregular bleeding, painful sex and infertility or it may be asymptomatic in some cases. As it involves the pelvic organs and pelvic peritoneum, it causes infertility in 30-50% of women. For some women there may be a formation of an ovarian cyst called as chocolate cyst which can be picked up on ultrasound. A good clinical history and examination are the key to diagnose endometriosis and then comes the role of imaging and laparoscopy. 

Common symptoms of endometriosis are 

Very painful menstrual cramps 

Chronic pelvic pain, backache

Painful sex

Painful defecation/urination 

Bleeding or spotting 

Infertility

Stomach /digestive problems simulating idiopathic Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Moving towards a transformative future of work, the expectations of the present generation of the workforce are different from the previous generations. EPAM Systems India Private Limited (EPAM India), a leading digital transformation services and CyberMedia Research (CMR) commissioned a joint study to better understand modern engineers’ aspirations within the emerging workplace. The survey with 800+ engineers from diverse tech roles, aged 23 to 30 with 1 to 7 years of work experience and hailing from 8 major cities in India with the highest concentration of modern engineers revealed some interesting insights.

• 93% of modern engineers seek upskilling opportunities in AI, Cloud, and other new-age technologies
• 92% of modern engineers look for opportunities to enhance their problem-solving skills to identify and implement the best solutions.
• 91% of respondents stated that future developmental and on-job training opportunities are their top expectations from their workplaces

Career Aspirations and Learning

Delving deeper into their career aspirations, the study findings suggest that modern engineers are keen on accelerating their learning curve and expect their organizations to support this by creating learning pathways. In this respect, a significant majority of 80% of survey participants find practices like competency centers crucial for assisting employees in acquiring technical knowledge and developing problem-solving skills. Concerning tech domain preferences, two in every five modern engineers seek to learn Microservice architecture. Java is the most popular programming language, as 55% of participants regarded so. The survey results demonstrated that the career aspirations of modern engineers vary with age. 57% of modern engineers aged 25 years or under look for faster career promotions, whereas more than half of those between 26 and 30 are more invested in exploring career expansion opportunities through learning.

Expectations Regarding Ways of Working

Modern engineers look for a competitive work environment and access to modern tech while achieving a bigger purpose and meaning from their careers. They look for agile and flexible ways of working to stay ahead of the curve. 48% of survey participants find design thinking and nearly equal share said opportunities to express their creativity as key elements of a competitive modern work environment. New-age collaboration and real-time monitoring tools and techniques are considered essential practices for creating an agile working environment by 46% of modern engineers. Nearly half of the respondents stated that a work culture supporting flexibility and work-life balance is crucial for them. Certain aspects, like the flexibility to work from anywhere and anytime, were found to be more critical to modern women engineers than their counterparts. 

When asked about their existing companies, the most positive views captured were about the use of real-time monitoring tools and techniques at the current workplaces, as cited 78% of modern engineers. However, survey responses were much less positive regarding a few of their other top expectations. A two-thirds majority of the respondents feel that their existing companies require to focus on working with the latest technologies. Nearly 60% of the participants think their workplaces need to offer more space to express creativity and promote design thinking.

Future Perspective

While organizations are pivoting towards AI and digital transformation, a young, smart, and bold engineer wants to create a more significant impact in society, solving its complex problems, working on what’s latest and with ease in a newly defined work environment. They are invested in shaping their future with clear career aspirations, social innovation, and sustainability goals. Regarding their perspective for the future, 68% and 46% of modern engineers, respectively, believe that Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence will be the demand in the future, enabling enhancing consumer experience and collaboration.

Smoky Chipotle Brownie Bites made with GALAXY® FUSIONS

• 1 box (25oz) fudge brownie batter, prepared
• 2 t TABASCO^® Chipotle Sauce
• 1½ c GALAXY® FUSIONS, ¼” chopped

DIRECTION

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Add chipotle sauce into prepared brownie batter.
3. Spray a mini muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray.
4. Fill each cup one quarter of the way with the infused batter.
5. Top with 1¼ teaspoons of chopped GALAXY® FUSIONS. Push chocolate down slightly in the center. Cover each with the remaining batter.

NBCC, which executed the redevelopment of East Kidwai Nagar area and is, also maintaining it, acknowledges difficulties faced by the residents owing to the heavy downpour on Friday which has been the case for a lot of areas of Delhi, especially South Delhi. The overflowed water through Barapullah (drain) entered the parking areas of the colony through the ramp which was designed only for vehicular traffic. The NBCC maintenance team has successfully de-watered the underground parking areas and have made all lifts functional. The team has continuously worked day and night to ensure the facilities and amenities are restored for the residents and occupants to use. NBCC dewatered approximately 16 Crore litres of water spread across 40 acres, which was done on war footing so that the normal facilities could be restored. This was done by in record 24 hours by specially purchasing and putting to use the dewatering motors on urgent basis. NBCC ensured uninterrupted water and electricity supply during the downpour and despite the flooding.

East Kidwai Nagar, located in South New Delhi has been one of the affected areas along with many such areas during the heavy downpour on last Friday. As reported in media, the flooding was mainly attributed to a lot of water that overflowed through Barapullah (drain) and one of its walls which breached. The day’s rainfall was said to be the highest in June since 1936.

The residents of the society praised the prompt action from the NBCC maintenance team which resulted in quick restoration of the facilities (lift and parking). One of the residents went on to record its appreciation by saying “Certain things are the ACTS OF GOD and Perils of Nature are unavoidable. Any amount of immaculate planning cannot mitigate certain risks and we need to endure. But the tenacity displayed by the NBCC team deserves a special applause from all of us. When we were all watching cricket, they were the ones, who were stuck, knee deep into water.

Their services deserve the same appreciation that an ARMY SOLDIER deserves Jai Hind.”
