NLR India Foundation hosted a Boot Camp on vocational skills on Sunday, 17th July, 2022 for dependents of leprosy affected and socio- economically deprived, with a count of 60+ students at Tilak Nagar, Delhi. The Boot Camp on Vocational Skills had a special focus on computer usage for the students and adolescents of the leprosy colony. Prior to the Boot Camp, a survey was undertaken on 16th July, 2022 by volunteers from Connecting Dreams Foundation, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur (SGTB) Khalsa Chapter to assess the computer skills of the targeted beneficiaries. The students were oriented on the basic computer applications in the form of MS office, MS Paint and Google Meet through interactive mode. The three-hour long event was organised with snacks, team bonding activities and a leisure break to liven up the spirits of the young students.

Dr. Ashok Agarwal, Managing Trustee, NLR India Foundation said, “We received some great response from the students benefitting from the camp, and learning of basic computer skills. NLR India Foundation has plans to host similar Boot Camps in the other leprosy colonies of Delhi.”

He also added “We would like to extend our thanks to the community members of the leprosy colony and the dedicated student volunteers from CDF SGTB Khalsa Chapter, Delhi University for their extended support.”

With an eagerness to learn the skill-sets of computerusage, students of varied age groups attended the Boot camp with energy & enthusiasm. The venue, located in the premises of the leprosy colony, was full with the hopeful students. Based on the age groups of the students, the students were divided into 5 groups, ranging from 5-8, 9-11 years and 12 -16years (illustrated here), a total of 60+ students.

Having been made aware of the basic computer skills, the students in the age group of 12+ years will be provided soft-skills in effective communication, letter drafting, MS Excel, Tally and E-mail related features in the forthcoming Boot Camp scheduled for the month of August, 2022.
