Postpartum hair loss, or hair loss after delivery, is an upsetting condition that new mothers usually deal with soon after pregnancy.

Soon after welcoming your newborn, you may notice excessive hair fall, and that’s completely normal. There are certain changes related to your hormone levels before, during, and after pregnancy that can play with your hair growth. It’s completely natural to experience hormonal imbalance after delivery, and one of the symptoms of hormonal imbalance is postpartum hair loss. This is a temporary phenomenon that lasts only for the first few months following pregnancy, so with a little care, your hair will bounce back to normal by the time your baby turns a year old. Also, remember to drink plenty of fluids, especially water throughout the day in order to stay hydrated.

Taking steps to increase your tolerance to stress has the added advantage of helping to regulate hormone imbalances. 

3. Be Kind To Your Hair 

After pregnancy, be extra gentle to prevent excess hair loss. Shampoo only when it becomes the need of the hour, and use a good conditioner and a wide-toothed comb to minimise excessive tangling. Make sure to get multiple trims in order to keep the split ends at bay. Try to avoid heat styling products like curling or flat ironing, as much as you can.
